How to create and delete a Page File (define Location Strings)

Synopsis:

This guide explains how to create and delete a Page File in the Page File builder.

Applicable to:

Defining Elements used in Scenarios and Feature files. 

Prerequisite:

None.

How to: 

  1.   Click on Dashboard
  2.   Select the Applicationyou want to work on from the top navigation bar.
  3.   Click on Pages  from the navigation tabs.

  4.   Click on New Page and the template screen will open up to the right.
  5.   Define the page name for the application.

  6.   Under Path, fill in the URL if available. NOTE:  This is not a requirement.
  7.   Click Save.
  8.   Click Add an Element at the bottom of the page.
  9.   Change the highlighted Element Name to the correct Element you want to define.
  10.   Select Element Type.

  11.   Select location Method.

  12.   Enter the Location String. To find the location please click the following links to depending on what browser you are using FirefoxChrome or Internet Explorer.

  13.   Click Save and Continue to add more page file elements or Save and Close to only add this element.
  14.   Repeat Steps 9 through 14 to create additional elements in the Page File.

Deleting an Element and the Page File:

  1. In order to delete an element it must not be referenced in any ScenarioFlow or Feature. If a page element is being used the application will indicate "[in use]" to the right of the element name. The red 'X' used to delete the element will also be disabled.

  2.  If the Step is not being used then it will no longer show "[in use]" and the red 'X' will be activated.

  3.   Click the red 'X' to delete the element.
  4.   To delete the  Page File itself, no element on the Page File can be in use in a Scenario, Flow or Feature.
  5.   Once this is confirmed click on the Page File header and you will see the Delete button.

  6.   Click the Delete button to completely remove the Page File.
